A three-variable story we’ve heard time after time … Can you believe [so and so] makes [such and such amount of money] per year to sit on the board of [such and such company] !?! Well, as a matter of fact I can, and you should too. Companies with a lot of employees have to delegate, organize, and compartmentalize. They do their best to keep it simple but inevitably they end up with a complicated organization, with numerous levels, departments, and titles. So when we get to the very top of such companies like the CEO’s boss, the Corporate Board, we’re talking about ranks upon ranks above the average Joe. So how do they fill these boardrooms when all they’ve got to choose from are mortal souls? They turn to big names, larger than life figures … or people related to them. These people don’t make you wonder how they got to be your bosses bosses bosses …. boss, their name drowns all that out. But they do inspire other questions and criticisms. But who takes the heat? They do. And that’s part of the plan, the least you could do is pay them for it.
