High Priced Janitors

Environmental consultants are basically high priced janitors, is something a former boss of mine used to say. But who pays us ‘high priced janitors’? A typical janitor is paid by a property owner, if the owner is running a business, people won’t frequent that business if its dirty. But how does the free market solve the problem of environmental messes. Eventually we realized that it can’t, and these messes, swept under the rug all too easily and frequently in the past, began to recede, thanks to a few laws, a few thousand regulations, and don’t forget about us high priced janitors too.
