Don’t mess with Mister InBetween
Something is bothering me. The song, ‘AC-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive’, was written and became popular after WW2, and represents the cultural emotion of the era which was wanting to forget the tragedies of war and focus on a more happy future. The first three lines of the main chorus make sense, 1)accentuate the positive — 2)eliminate the negative — 3)latch on to the affirmative — but then — 4)don’t mess with Mister InBetween? .. Why? Surely you could apply the same strategies to something ‘InBetween’ to make it more positive and less negative, why leave it be? Heres an idea. We’ve all been lectured at some point about the power of positive thinking, and in my experience it’s something easier said than done. If somethings not good, but nor is it bad, just leave it be. So don’t take lyrics from songs too seriously, because before you know it, you might have a mess on your hands.
